Tara founded Artists Within Makeup Academy in Calgary in 2003. Today, she brings that teaching experience to the academy’s virtual programs, helping students develop their understanding of makeup and their application skills.

Do I need any prior makeup knowledge?
Our Advanced Makeup Diploma does require basic makeup knowledge. The Makeup Diploma is a pre-requisite to our Advanced Makeup Course.
Is Airbrush Makeup included?
Yes. This diploma includes Advanced Makeup and Airbrush Makeup tuition, with a professional kit for each discipline.
How does the virtual format work?
Join weekly virtual instructor meetings, October 28–December 16, 2026, on Wednesdays from 6–7 p.m. Calgary local time. Work through online lessons, practice and assignment uploads between meetings.
When do I complete my final project?
The program includes four weeks of independent final project work after your eight instructor weeks. Follow the final project brief and submission deadline provided in your course schedule.
What do I need to complete the course?
Your Advanced and Airbrush kits are included. You will need a device and reliable internet connection for lessons, instructor meetings and assignment uploads. Follow your course brief for any model requirements.
When do I gain access to the course?
You will receive access to the student platform as soon as you pay your deposit and register but won’t get access to your course until the start date you choose. You can access you course 24/7 during your enrolment period via your student dashboard.

Are you an accredited school?
We are an accredited government licensed school with Alberta Private Career Colleges, and also accredited with the international school board ITEC, providing internationally recognized training. When you choose an accredited school it means that a board governs their courses, which protects your interests as a student.

Do I need any prior makeup knowledge?
Our Advanced Makeup Diploma does require basic makeup knowledge. The Makeup Diploma is a pre-requisite to our Advanced Makeup Course.

Do you have funding options?
We do! You can apply for a government student loan for all courses that run 12 weeks or more, if you live in Canada, as we are an approved, licensed, post-secondary school. You can also use RESP’s or can look at payment options through ‘Affirm' when you pay the balance of your fees online. Another option is to check with your bank to see if they offer a student credit line.

What do I need to complete the course?
You receive your makeup kit on the first day of class. You don’t need anything other than a device (mobile, tablet, desktop) and a good internet connection to access your course platform. The only other requirement is a passion for makeup of course!
