Tara brings more than 30 years of makeup artistry experience and over two decades of teaching to the Master Makeup Artistry Certificate.

After founding Artists Within Makeup Academy in 2003, she developed a practical approach to education: understanding why a technique works, how to apply it and how to adapt it to different faces and creative settings.

Do I need previous makeup experience?

No. The course begins with professional foundations, so you can start as a beginner and build your skills through the lessons and independent practice.

How is this different from the Professional Makeup Artistry Certificate?

The Professional certificate focuses on foundations, client makeup and bridal beauty. The Master certificate includes these areas and expands into photography, editorial, television, commercial, video and runway makeup, along with creative planning and career development.

Are there scheduled classes?

No. This is a 100% online, self-paced course. Watch the recorded demonstrations and work through the written lessons when it suits you, with no weekly meetings or scheduled login times.

How long can I access the course?

You receive two years of access from enrollment. Move through the modules at your own pace and revisit lessons as you practice.

Are my practical applications reviewed?

Yes. Selected advanced makeup applications and your final project are assessed by your instructor. You receive personal feedback against clear criteria, with a result of “Meets criteria” or “Revision needed”. One resubmission is included for each assessed task. Other worksheets and practice activities are for independent learning.

What support is available?

Your tuition includes instructor feedback on the designated assessed applications and final project. You can also contact the school by email for help with course content, instructions and platform access.

Do I need a makeup kit?

Yes, you will need suitable makeup products, tools and sanitation supplies for practical work. The $1,497 CAD course + kit option includes the Master Makeup Kit. The $1,197 CAD course-only option does not include a kit, so you may use suitable products you already own or purchase a kit separately. The optional Pro Makeup Kit is highly recommended and contains everything you need to work through the course and start your career, it can be  purchased separately.

Will I received a certificate?

Yes, you receive an OMI Master Makeup Artistry Certificate of Completion once you have completed the lessons, met the criteria for the designated practical assessments and final project.

What is the refund policy?

You may request a refund within seven calendar days of purchase if you have not accessed any course content. Opening, viewing or downloading a lesson, video, worksheet or other course material makes the purchase non-refundable. Signing in or viewing your dashboard alone does not count as accessing course content. Submit your request to the school using the name and email address associated with your enrollment. If you use a third-party payment provider, any repayment or refund arrangements are also subject to that provider’s terms.
